Hello folks!
Uhhhhh….this book is coming out SOON. Tuesday is the big day and honestly, there’s been so much planning and posting and podcasting that the idea of the book finally being out there is a relief!
I’m sure I’ll have reflections after the book is out and I’ll share more tidbits and snippets but before we can do that - it’s time for some events!
I’m going on a book tour and having a book launch in Chicago. Let’s review the stops!
AUGUST 25th - CHICAGO
Book Launch Day - I’ll be at Three Avenues Bookshop in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood. I wanted to be in Chicago for launch day to be with my family and friends. I was the in-conversation partner for my work friend-in-law on his book tour and loved Three Avenues. (Work friend-in-law means he’s married to my coworker and now we’re friends.)
My in-conversation partner is Diamond Sharp, writer and poet. She wrote a tremendous book of poetry: Sad Black Girl. Diamond and I went to high school together and then we also went to college together. Our friendship was forged on a high school cultural exchange trip to France.
(I’m also having a friends & family reception after the bookstore event and I don’t have the same budget as Carrie Bradshaw’s book party, it will serve as an inspiration.)
Get your tickets here!
AUGUST 27th - BOSTON

The day after the book launch in Chicago, I’ll be hopping on a plane and heading to Boston/Cambridge. I’ll be at Harvard Bookstore on August 27th with EB Bartels.
I spent many a night in EB’s suite in college watching Jersey Shore or the first season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. EB is a fabulous author whose book Good Grief: On Loving Pets, Here and Hereafter came out last year and it’s a touching book. EB and I also sat next to each other at graduation and held hands every time one of us started to tear up.
SEPTEMBER 2nd - LOS ANGELES

For some pre-Emmys fun, I’ll be at Skylight Books with the incomparable Kristin Chirico!
Kristin is a hilarious stand-up, writer, and YouTuber. She’s writing a book about reconnecting with her Native American community after learning about her family’s history. My boyfriend Philip and I regularly watch Kristin’s YouTube videos and she and I became internet friends and bonded over our shared love of Heated Rivalry and fat politics.
SEPTEMBER 9th - NEW YORK CITY

No! Sleep! Til! Brooklyn! The final stop on the book tour is Brooklyn at 651 Arts, brought to you by Cafe con Libros.
My in-conversation partner will be Josh Gondelman, stand-up, writer, and gentle sweet human. You should check out his very funny special, Positive Reinforcement. Josh and I became friends because he worked at Last Week Tonight (before I started here). We also were on the WGA Negotiating Committee earlier this year and spent a lot of time advocating for late night writers and hanging out in the hotel bar.
At various stops along the book tour, I’ll be connecting with Wellesley book clubs, and groups of former students in smaller, private events.
But I’m excited to see friends, family, and other reality TV fans the whole tour long! Please come out to an event and don’t forget to pick up a copy of Reality TV for Snobs on TUESDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND THE AUDIOBOOK TOO!!
See you on the other side,
Ali B
